The Somerton Interfaith Food Bank opened in April of 1997 as a cooperative community outreach to provide food at no charge to needy families and individuals in the Greater Northeast area and Lower Bucks County

Eight volunteers, who donate their time and energy to make this possible, operate the food bank. It is located next door to St. Andrews', in the original chapel.

Presently over 600 families and individuals are registered. Average distributions of food are 175 to 200 per month, (over 2400 per year). Included in these numbers are about 40 home deliveries per month to shut-ins or those unable to get to the food bank. In addition, food boxes (including turkeys) are given out at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Somerton Interfaith Food Bank will partner with the United Methodist Neighborhood Services to start a satellited of Neighborhood services here in Somerton in connection with the food bank.
